Health & Safety
Our staff are very careful and must adhere to strict policies and procedures regarding the authorisation for collection of children. All employees are record checked with the Disclosure and Barring Service and also required to attend formal child protection training as part of their training. The training is further supported by a fully trained Child Protection Officer on site at the nursery. Our Child Protection Officer is our manager, Aisha Nafees. The nursery also has a fully trained Health and Safety Coordinator to ensure nursery safety and security at all times. Our Health and Safety Coordinator is our 3-year-old Room Leader Areeba Hamid.
Fire drills
Fire drills are vital at Lemon Tree Nursery as they ensure that everyone is prepared to respond to a fire in a calm, composed, and efficient manner, effectively preparing all individuals to react during a fire.
- During our drills, children learn how to use the fire alarm, follow directions from adults, and leave the building safely.
- Our committed employees receive training to effectively perform drills, ensuring that everyone comprehends their responsibilities and evacuation routes.
- When it comes to fire safety, we abide by all applicable municipal laws and standards in school settings.
Fire drills are carried out every 3 months to ensure that staff of the nursery and children know how to exit the building in the event of a fire.
It will help them to overcome this type of emergency situations.
For more information about our fire safety measures or to schedule a visit, please contact Lemon Tree Nursery.
Outings
Lemontree Preschool is insured to take children out to the local surrounding area. All children are encouraged to join in on these outings as we visit many places around the area and sometimes have to take public transport. Parents must sign a consent form for outings which is part of the gradual admission process before their child will be taken on these local visits.
- Kids expand their understanding of the world by exploring parks, museums, and other institutions as part of their practical education.
- Interacting with adults and peers helps develop social skills and self-confidence.
- All outings are carefully supervised to ensure that everyone has a good time and stays safe.
Sickness
We do ask parent and carers to keep their child from nursery if they are suffering from a doubtful rash (such as measles and chicken pox), discharge from the eyes or ears, vomiting, or if they have diarrhoea. This is to ensure sickness is not spread to other children. In the event that a child was to become ill while in our care, we would make every effort to contact you as soon as possible. All our staff are First Aid qualified to ensure your child is in safe hands at all times.
- Preventive steps: Regular hand washing and sanitation practices are necessary to limit the spread of illness and maintain high cleanliness standards.
- Health Monitoring: Our team frequently conducts health checks on children to identify any signs of illness and promptly informs parents of any potential issues.
- Expert Guidance: When it comes to implementing the most effective strategies for managing and preventing illness, we heed the guidance provided by health experts.
- Communication: Parents receive regular updates on their child’s health and any symptoms observed are reported to them.
- Exclusion Policy: Our policy requires that children with contagious illnesses remain at home until they no longer pose a risk to others, in order to safeguard the health and safety of all children.
- Supportive Care: A sick child receives consolation and attention in the nursery until their parents come to take them home.
